The Whole Amount
Ferry
One payment crosses four banks in four cities and arrives exactly as it left. The number is the only thing in the film that never moves.
Challenge, idea and execution
Challenge
Ferry pays remote contractors abroad: Joana in Recife invoices 4,000.00 and receives 4,000.00. There's no correspondent-bank fee and no spread on the exchange rate. That promise is very hard to film, because the good outcome is that nothing happens. Fintech films usually reach for speed: arrows, globes, the word "instant". But speed isn't what hurts the person waiting. They know two numbers, the one they invoiced and the one that arrived, and nobody can tell them where the difference went. The film had to make "nothing was lost" feel like an event.
Idea
If the promise is that nothing changes, make stillness the device.
4,000.00 sits at the exact centre of the frame, at the same size and on the same pixel, from the second second to the thirtieth. Around it, everything else moves. Hard cuts on every downbeat take it through a New York desk, a London banking hall, a Frankfurt vault and a São Paulo clearing floor. Each city stamps a postmark beside it, like a letter collecting cancellations. At an airport exchange booth the digits shiver toward 3,874.12, then settle back. In Recife the number lands on Joana's phone screen without moving at all.
Execution
It's built entirely in code (Remotion) over seven AI-generated, medium-format-style plates. The number is engraved like a banknote plate: a hairline outline, then hatch, then ink. Fraunces has no tabular figures, so every digit sits in a fixed cell. The postmarks are SVG with turbulence ink, and each lands with a two-frame impact that shakes the stamp, never the number. The phone screen is mapped onto the plate from its four measured corners. The score is synthesised at 112 BPM: brushes, upright bass, nylon guitar, and rubber stamps pitched D–E♭–E–F as the lead percussion. At the scare it all drops to one bowed note and a tick.

Postmarks, small text
From a raw plate to a frame of film.
Every plate is generated from a written prompt that names the film stock, lens and light. Grain, halation, camera moves, type and every light change are then added in code.
We can turn a fintech's least filmable promise into 33 seconds with tension and a payoff, legible to a CFO and a contractor in the same second.
- Film
Direction, design, motion, code: Glint Studio.
Everything that moves is code: the number engraving (SVG stroke → engraved hatch → fill), the slot-roll scare, the postmarks (SVG turbulence ink), the guilloché rosette (parametric woven sine bands), and the phone-screen comp. No video generation was used.
- Imagery
All eight plates are AI-generated with GPT Image via the studio's image-bridge. Prompts are in ferry/prompts.json, plus ferry-06b, a GPT Image edit of ferry-06 requested in ferry/regen.json. The film uses 01–05, 06b and 07; the key visuals use 06. Plates were cropped, graded and upscaled (Lanczos + unsharp) in-house. No people are depicted beyond hands.
- Music & sound
Original score and all sound design, fully synthesised in numpy/scipy with the studio's tools/synth toolkit: brushed snare, pizzicato and bowed upright bass, FM piano comping, Karplus–Strong nylon guitar, pitched rubber-stamp foley (D–E♭–E–F, back to D), pen nib, clock tick, slot-roll rattle, cymbal swell, gull. No samples, no third-party recordings → nothing to license. Mixed to −14 LUFS integrated, −1 dBFS ceiling.
- Type
Fraunces (variable, opsz/wght/SOFT/WONK) by Undercase Type (Phaedra Charles, Flavia Zimbardi) — SIL Open Font License 1.1. The amount is set at opsz 48 / wght 350 (titles at opsz 144 / 300), SOFT 0 / WONK 0. Fraunces has no tabular-figure feature, so the figures are set in fixed-width cells in code.
Geist (variable) by Vercel / Basement Studio — SIL Open Font License 1.1.
- Identity
Mark ("the cupped coin"), wordmark, palette: per the CD brief. Wordmark outlined from Fraunces 600 opsz 72 (OFL permits embedding outlines in artwork).
