Evening Comes Inside
Vesper
A product film for a lamp that never shows the lamp being switched on.
Challenge, idea and execution
Challenge
Indoors it is always two in the afternoon: most homes switch on the same flat ceiling light at six and leave it until bed. Vesper is a lamp that follows the sun, so the product is the light itself, and light can’t be shown in a product shot. Wellness hardware films reach for spa clichés, and the product gets lost among them.
Idea
The room as a sundial.
One locked-off frame, never cut: the window’s patch of sun travels across the floor and up the wall as the clock runs, a ceiling light clicks on and flattens everything, then Vesper takes over and follows the sky down from amber to ember. The only thing that moves in the film is light.
Execution
A single plate, generated in flat, shadowless light so every ray could be added in code: a time-of-day grade, an animated sky inside a hand-drawn window mask, the sun patch projected onto measured floor and wall planes, and a lamp whose colour comes from a Kelvin-to-RGB function. The 9:16 cut pans with the sun. A marimba arpeggio slows from 96 to 60 BPM as the lamp warms.

The clock, small print
From a raw plate to a frame of film.
Every plate is generated from a written prompt that names the film stock, lens and light. Grain, halation, camera moves, type and every light change are then added in code.
We can sell a physical product by filming what it does instead of what it looks like, in one patient image that holds up as a six-second cut-down and as the full film.
